If you keep up with us on Facebook , Twitter, and/or Instagram, you've seen that we have been quite active actually! Lots of fun over the holidays and so many Charleston events! To start off this new year (on February 1st- ha!) I'd like to share with you the most recent event we've attended.
Crown Royal Maple
Taste Testing and Mix Contest
This was so much fun! You know I write about downtown Charleston all the time and how much I love it, so aside from the fact that you need to grab yourself a babysitter and get your booty walking around and taking in the sights... you need to get down there and have some good old fashioned fun!
Speaking of Old Fashioned... (Recipe at the bottom!)
|Troy Siddle, NYC Bar Owner|
Kent LOVED his. All drinks were made with Crown Royal Maple and even I liked them! Although Kent is a huge CR fan, I cannot drink whiskey- with the exception of CR Maple! Just needed some pancakes. hmm... that gives me an idea... breakfast for dinner on Valentine's Day and CR Maple as Kent's present! (perfectly easy) Shhh... don't tell Kent!
If you have been following us on Instagram, these will look pretty familiar to you- Keep scrolling though- More pics from CR and Carolina Nightlife. :)
The guy on the left above (whose face I accidentally blurred) is Gerry Graham. If you're at all a whiskey fan, you definitely need to meet him. Kent and I monopolized his time for what felt like forever, but he was just so great to talk to! If you've never had the chance to listen to an Irish man talk about everything-Ireland and whiskey at the same time- you need to add that to your bucket list!
Despite Kent's best efforts to bribe Gerry, we both still lost. Oh well, we had a good time and got out of the house sans two year old! The winner (below with Troy and Gerry) won a Gibson maple finished guitar valued at $1500. It was some stiff competition!
(Her shot included pineapple and was geniusly named "Easy Like Sunday Morning")
Crown Maple Old Fashioned
.75 oz. Crown Royal Maple Finished
.75 oz. Bulleit Rye
1 tsp. Demerara Syrup
1 dash of orange zest
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Combine all ingredients in shaker and strain into
a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with orange peel.
And for the record- I was not paid to write this. I was just very impressed with the taste and felt like sharing!
Cheers or as we said there- #CRMaple,
P.S. The event was held at Social Wine Bar downtown. The appetizers were SO good and, as always, the atmosphere was perfect.
